I can hear the groans of a whole bunch of marketers right about now. ?Pop ups? Ugh!? I know. You hate pop ups. Heck, I don?t much like them myself. But if every Internet marketer based his business on what he did and didn?t like, there?d be a lot more broke Internet marketers than there already are.
Like it or not, pop ups CAN be effective if used properly. The question is, just how do you use them in order to build a list. What?s the right way? What?s the wrong way? How many is too many? Should you use pop ups, pop unders, peel away ads, hover ads or something else?
While this article can?t possibly go into complete detail on every method available, it is going to try to give you an overall perspective on the process itself. What type of technology you ultimately use is up to you. My suggestion is to track your results very closely and carefully. Only by doing so can you get the most optimum results from your efforts.
For those who don?t know what pop ups are (yes, some folks have never seen them) they?re essentially mini pages that reveal themselves, usually when a visitor to another page tries to leave that page. The most common form of pop up today is actually nothing more than a small box asking the visitor to wait before they leave and make one last offer.
How can you use something like this to build your list? Simple. Let?s say you have a sales page that is promoting an e-book on how to repair your own PC. Maybe after reading the sales page, the prospect isn?t convinced that this information is something that they need and they try to navigate away from the page.
What you can do at this point is simple. Have a pop up of some kind offer to give them a free report explaining to them in detail why learning this information can not only save them time and money but make them more self sufficient when it comes to maintaining their PC. Seeing that the report is free, the cost being nothing more than opting in to get it, many visitors will do so. After all, they have nothing to lose but a little bit of their time in reading the report.
You can also tell them that they?ll be receiving a newsletter with more valuable tips on a number of subjects from buying peripherals to whole PCs themselves. Over the course of time, after building the trust of the prospect, they may be more likely to purchase your e-book.
And all because of a pop up that asked them to wait before leaving.
Before you dismiss the idea as one that won?t work because you personally don?t like pop ups, give it a shot. The worst that can happen is that the tactic doesn?t work. In that case, you?re no worse off than you were before, as the prospect wasn?t going to buy your e-book anyway.
You may just find that you not only build a responsive list but make more sales in the process.
To YOUR Success,
